CARTE BLANCHE #5 on New York Times Best Sellers list

In its debute week, Jeffery Deaver's Carte Blanche has landed at #5 in the New York Times Best Sellers list for Hardcover Fiction. The list reflects sales for the week ending June 18, 2011.

While sales of Carte Blanche in the UK are not quite as strong as Sebastian Faulks' Devil May Care, it is outselling the Faulks novel in the U.S. Devil May Care only made it as high as #8 on the New York Times list.

  1. Fantastic! If word of mouth is good, it could still rise higher. Word of mouth is terrible on the Clancy book (which everyone who reads seems to conclude he didn't actually write a word of), so that could well drop in coming weeks.

Do you know where Deaver books usually debut on the NYT Best Sellers list? Is this in keeping with his others? I suspect the disparity in charts across the pond can be chalked up to the given author's popularity in either country as opposed to the character's. While Sebastian Faulks may have been a big name in Britain, lots of Brits seemed shocked that many American readers had never heard of him.

  2. Sorry, Tanner, I don't know where Deaver books usually debute.

Agree with your point about Faulks. He's a popular draw in the UK. But not really here.

  3. If anything, this could give IFP and Deaver incentive for more continuation novels.
