James Bond in LXG Black Dossier

Our favorite spy blog Double O Section reports that James Bond makes an unauthorized and rather unflattering appearance the just released graphic novel, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier.

Set in the 1950s, the charcater is identified only as "Jimmy," grandson of the original series' Campion Bond. A favorite Fleming villain also reportedly makes an appearance.

I've just ordered the book from Amazon to have a look for myself, but Double O Section says that while Bond's very un-gentlemen like characterization is "likely to rile many Bond fans," artist Kevin O'Neil's depiction of 007 is dead-on, "complete with Hoagy Carmichael looks and that famous comma of black hair."

For the record, James Bond makes his official return to the world graphic novels in next year's adaptation of Charlie Higson's SilverFin.

  1. Have you read any of the previous League volumes and if you've read it, how did you find it?

Anyway, you must have seen the book is jam-packed with allusions and references to countless works of fiction and you really must check the annotations to it.
