HURRICANE ROOM title confirmed

The title of Kim Sherwood's final Double O novel has been confirmed by Harper Fiction as a Hurricane Room. I like it! Release date is May 21, 2026.

I'm excited to see "James Bond returns" in the description above. So might this be more OO7 and less Double Os.  I'm here for that!

You can pre-order Hurricane Room at Amazon.co.uk.

Kim Sherwood's next Double O is HURRICANE ROOM

The title of Kim Sherwood's next (and last?) Double O novel has been revealed on Amazon as Hurricane Room. No plot summary yet, but the release date shows as May 21, 2026.

Not a typically Bondian title like her previous books, Double or Nothing and A Spy Like Me, but I kind of like it. It's intriguing.

You can pre-order Hurricane Room at Amazon.co.uk.

UPDATE: Looks like the Amazon listing has been revised, and it now lists this as just "Double O Book 3." Possibly, Hurricane Room is only a working title that will be changed. We'll see.

UK cover art for A SPY LIKE ME

Cover art for the UK edition of Kim Sherwood's A Spy Like Me has appeared on Amazon. Nice, but this is a rare case in which I prefer the U.S. cover, which is exceptional. This second Double O book will be released in the UK under Harper's new crime imprint Hemlock Press on April 25, 2024.

IFP announces releases for 2024

Ian Fleming Publications have announced their plans for 2024. Full press release below.

IFPL Announcement – What We Have Planned For 2024

As we make our way through the cold and blustery days of January, instead of lighting our 70th cigarette of the day, let’s instead look ahead to what’s coming in 2024. We’re very excited to share with you our plans for the year ahead and stay tuned for some surprises in the months to come…

Our first 2024 title to announce is a new eBook-only omnibus that collects Raymond Benson's six original Bond novels together into a single eBook.

James Bond: The Raymond Benson Years includes the classic books Zero Minus Ten, The Facts of Death, High Time to Kill, DoubleShot, Never Dream of Dying and The Man with the Red Tattoo.

James Bond: The Raymond Benson Years will be published on 26 February. It is available for pre-order HERE.

Next up, we're thrilled to announce that on 6 June, just in time for King Charles' official birthday, we'll be publishing a paperback edition of Charlie Higson's Sunday Times bestselling On His Majesty's Secret Service. The paperback edition will feature some exclusive new content, and we'll be sharing the new cover soon. As with the hardback, all royalties from the new edition will continue to go to support the work of the National Literacy Trust.

2024 marks 60 years since the publication of Ian Fleming's classic children's story about a flying car and the adventure of a lifetime, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. To celebrate this anniversary, we'll be publishing a new paperback edition of this beloved tale on 13 June. Aimed at young readers and featuring brand new illustrations, it's not the only thing we have planned this year to celebrate the world’s most famous flying car... Keep an eye on the skies, as we'll be revealing both the illustrator and cover of the new paperback version soon!

In time for James Bond Day in October, we'll be releasing fourteen beautiful new hardback editions of Ian Fleming's original Bond stories. From Casino Royale to Octopussy, start clearing some space on your shelves! Stay tuned for word on some exciting surprises, including the artist of the new covers...

That concludes the titles we'll be publishing ourselves, but we'd be remiss not to mention the titles coming from our partners too.

The first issue of a new blockbuster Bond comics run, penned by superstar writer Garth Ennis (The Boys, Preacher) was published 17 January.  In Your Cold, Cold Heart the humour is black, the blood is red and the drinks are crystal clear. Order your copy of James Bond: 007 (2024) #1 online or from your local comic shop, and issue #2 will be out in February.

Don't miss the second instalment in Kim Sherwood's explosive Double O series, A Spy Like Me, publishing in the US on 23 April and the UK on 25 April from HarperCollins. Johanna Harwood, Agent 003, is on the hunt – for revenge and for James Bond…

Our friends over at the Folio Society also have something special in store for you this year, but our lips are sealed for now.

Finally, our team is working hard to improve our online web shop. This year we'll be adding the option to buy eBooks of our titles direct from us - after purchase these will be distributed by email via BookFunnel, and will be available to download and send to your preferred device. We're also working to expand the areas we ship to, beyond just the UK & USA. Keep an eye on our socials for announcements of when both eBooks and expanded shipping options are live.

P.S. We recommend you start work on your golf game…

Thank you, IFP, for keeping the Bond flag flying!

DOUBLE OR NOTHING paperback released in UK

The paperback edition of Kim Sherwood's first Double O novel, Double or Nothing, is released today in the UK. I always like when paperbacks use unique cover art, and this art is a stunner.

Author Kim Sherwood says, "As the first ever Bond book I bought was a paperback, it’s thrilling now to see Double or Nothing come out in this gorgeous paperback edition. If you’re new to the Double O series, I hope you enjoy the first installment!"

You can purchase the Double or Nothing paperback at Amazon.co.uk.

Title and plot revealed for next DOUBLE O novel

A Spy Like Me is the title of Kim Sherwood's next Double O novel. A good title! After Double or Nothing, I was wondering if all the titles would be a play on the word "double." Looks like that's not the case, and that's fine by me. Below is a plot summary.

An elite team of MI6 agents must go undercover to unravel a smuggling network funding violent terror in the second thrilling adventure in the acclaimed Double O series by Kim Sherwood
Six days. Three agents. One chance to find James Bond.

James Bond is alive.
Or at least, he was when he left a clue at the black site where the insidious private military company Rattenfanger held him captive. MI6 cannot spare any more lives attempting to track down one missing agent―no exceptions, even for Bond. But Johanna Harwood, 003, has her own agenda. Sidelined by her superiors while she grieves the loss of a loved one, Harwood goes on an unsanctioned mission: to find 007. Meanwhile, MI6 has another problem…

A bomb has been detonated in London.

Double O agents on the trail of the terrorists responsible acted quickly to prevent mass destruction and save lives. But MI6 failed to neutralize the nation’s enemies before they could strike, and one of their own was seriously injured in the blast.

They won’t fail again.
Assigned to root out the source of the terrorists’ funding, Joseph Dryden, 004, and Conrad Harthrop-Vane, 000, enter the field. Tracing clues from Sotheby’s auction house to Crete to Venice, they uncover a money laundering scheme involving diamonds, black market antiquities, and human trafficking. Once a major sale is made, a six-day countdown to the next terror attack begins. As the Double O’s follow the twisting trail, they find themselves unexpectedly inching closer to Bond…

You can pre-order A Spy Like Me at Amazon.co.uk. Release date is April 25, 2024.

Author KIM SHERWOOD on The Bond Experience

DOUBLE OR NOTHING released today in the UK

Today sees the release of Double or Nothing, Kim Sherwood's highly anticipated first book in a new series that introduces a modern generation of double O agents in a reimagined British Secret Service.

I've read the book and it's good. Very good. Kim Sherwood is a talented writer and this promises to be a bold series. The absence of James Bond does make this tough for an old traditionalist like me to fully embrace. But inclusion of familiar faces like Moneypenny and Felix Leiter help, and I was especially happy to see the appearance of an unexpected Bond Girl.

The book has been brilliantly marketed and I expect many will find it a breath of fresh air. Here's hoping the plan is to bring 007 himself into the series in the next book.

You can purchase Double or Nothing at Amazon.co.uk. You can find a full schedule of UK book events HERE.

The U.S. edition will be released next year

KIM SHERWOOD on Ian Fleming's style

In the run up to the release of Double or Nothing, HarperFiction on Twitter is sharing a series of short film clips of author Kim Sherwood talking about her journey from Bond fan to Bond author. I really like today's installment in which she recalls reading Ian Fleming's From Russia With Love for the first time.

Double or Nothing will be released in the UK on September 1, 2022 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk.

Kim SHERWOOD and Charlie HIGSON event, Sept. 1

Kim Sherwood will be joined by Young Bond author Charlie Higson at a special Double or Nothing launch day event on September 1st at the British Library. The event will "celebrate the ever-thrilling and evolving world of 007" and will be followed by a book signing. I like these two! (Still hoping Charlie will write an adult Bond novel some day.)

New DOUBLE O trilogy by Kim Sherwood announced

Looks like we'll have two official novels to look forward to in 2022. In addition to Anthony Horowitz's third James Bond novel (due in May), Ian Fleming Publications announced today the first in a new trilogy of books by Kim Sherwood. The books will be "set in the world of James Bond" and feature "a new raft a Double O agents for the 21st-century." The first book is due for release in September 2022.

James Bond is missing, presumed captured or even killed. All of Bond’s contemporaries are gone and a new generation of Double O agents has been recruited to replace them and battle a global threat. At the same time, M and Moneypenny are searching for a mole in MI6. Will the truth be uncovered in time—or is this the end of the Double O section?

Kim Sherwood says: "James Bond has been one of the enduring loves of my life since I first watched Pierce Brosnan dive from the dam in GoldenEye. I was soon hooked on Ian Fleming’s novels. As a teenager, I chose Fleming when my English teacher asked us to write about an author we admired—I still have the school report. Since then, I’ve dreamt of writing James Bond. It’s rare that dreams come true, and I am grateful to the Fleming family for this incredible opportunity. I feel honoured to be the first novelist to expand the Bond universe through the Double O sector, bringing new life to old favourites, and fresh characters to the canon. I couldn’t be more excited to introduce the world to my Double O agents."

Corinne Turner, Managing Director of Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, says: “In her first novel, Testament, Kim showed a rare gift for characterisation, time and place. She drew readers into a journey that unfolded in unexpected ways. These talents and her near-lifelong passion for Fleming and Bond make her the perfect choice for this exciting new extension of the 007 universe. I can’t wait for readers to see what she’s created.”

It should be noted that many media outlets are claiming Sherwood is the first woman to write for 007. But this isn't true. Samantha Weinberg wrote an excellent trilogy of Moneypenny Diaries novels between 2005 and 2008.

Kim Sherwood's first Double O section novel is already available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk.
