The Man With The Golden Gun on BBC Radio 4

A new radio drama adaptation of Ian Fleming's The Man With The Golden Gun will air on March 14, 2020 on BBC Radio 4. Below are details.

Ian Fleming’s psycho-political Cold War thriller, written in 1964 and dramatised by Archie Scottney. James Bond’s obit appears in the Times. But suddenly he’s back in London with murder on his mind. Brainwashed by the Russians?
M gives him one more chance - terminate international assassin, Francisco Scaramanga.
Bond infiltrates the killer’s Jamaican HQ. But 007 has a conscience. Can he eliminate the butcher in cold blood? Will his cover be blown?
A stellar cast includes Toby Stephen's return as 007. Cuban/American star Guillermo Diaz excels as psychopath Scaramanga and Janie Dee returns as Moneypenny, with John Standing as M and Moira Quirk as a feisty Mary Goodnight.

Warren Ellis reveals VARGR's "cold open"

Writer Warren Ellis has revealed that his new James Bond graphic novel VARGR will have a "cold open" featuring a duel in a building outside Helsinki. The writer told BBC Radio 5:

"I didn't want to be influenced by the films," said Ellis. "The one thing I couldn't stop myself doing was the famous Bond cold open. I had to do a Bond cold open, I just couldn't stop myself and they let me get away with it."

You can listen to the full clip here at BBC Radio 5.

VARGR will be a six-issue story arc written by Ellis with art by Jason Masters. It will be the first installment of the new "James Bond 007" comic book series from Dynamite. The first issue will be released in November.

BBC Radio revives Fleming's 007 in JUNK BOND

Friends out of England are telling me that last weekend BBC Radio 4 aired a four and a half minute Bond parody called Junk Bond as their "Book at Breakfast."

The segment featured 007 being briefed by M on the current EU financial crisis, of which Bond is blissfully unaware.

The piece was written in the style of Ian Fleming "by a famous but secret author" and read by Goldfinger's Bond Girl, Shirley Eaton (right).
