'Devil May Care' powers Pengiun profits

The Scotsman reports that "sales of the new James Bond novel Devil May Care have helped book publisher Pearson remain as 'hardy and aggressive' as the book's central character in the face of tough economic conditions.

Sebastian Faulks' Bond update, published by Pearson title Penguin, was the fastest-selling hardback fiction novel in Penguin UK's history, and the third-bestselling in the UK in 2008."

Penguin will release the paperback edition of Devil May Care on May 28, 2009. Children's division Puffin Books will release the paperback edition of Charlie Higson's latest Young Bond bestseller, By Royal Command, on the same day.

Penguin revamps their 007 logo

As it is our stated mission to compulsively bring you ALL the latest James Bond literary news no matter how small or trivial, here is our first exciting SCOOP!

Penguin has revamped their Penguin 007 logo.

(Okay, maybe it's not the most exciting scoop. But we're a day old. What do you want?)

This new logo appeared sometime in the last 12 hours on the official Penguin 007 website counting down to the release of Sebastian Faulks' Centenary Bond novel Devil May Care. And in case you've forgotten what the old logo looked like (or don't believe me), just give a clicksee HERE.

Which logo to you like better? I'm on the fence myself.

Penguin creates special 007 imprint, website

CommanderBond.net reports that Penguin Books will be creating a special James Bond imprint, Penguin 007 -- within which the recently announced Devil May Care will be published in May 2008, as well as launching a new website: www.penguin007.com.

Penguin UK publishes all 14 of Fleming’s Bond novels, the Charlie Higson Young Bond series, as well as Fleming’s children’s classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Devil May Care will be at the center of a larger program of Ian Fleming celebratory events that will run throughout 2008.

It’s going to be quite a year!
