Frankly, I didn't have any problem with the original gun not being of the period (it looked good!), but kudos to IFP and Random House Children's for listening to the fans.
In Shoot To Kill Steve Cole picks up where Charlie Higson left off and throws James Bond into action in Hollywood, CA. The book will be released in the UK by Random House Children's on November 6, 2014. There is yet no news of a U.S. publisher.

I kind of liked how the original gun looked in the design better, even if it wasn't period accurate. Like you, John, I've got no big problem with that. But it's not a big change, and still looks fine! If the book does get a US publisher (fingers crossed), I bet it will get an entirely new cover design as well. I can't imagine a gun featuring so prominently on the cover of an American YA book right now.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The original looked a little better. Had it been an obviously modern gun, I would have said it needed to be changed. But it was still 1930s. But it's nice that they listen to fans and care enough to go to the trouble and expense to change this.
DeleteHad to double check the caption. Knowing nought about guns, I'd have guessed the orig cover as the older gun.
DeleteCover still looks slick though.
Now they just need to fix the Zeppelin.
ReplyDeleteKidding!
