Orion have produced this limited, signed edition proof and let me say straight away that I'm delighted with the cover design and the embossed hardboard which quietly references Goldfinger – as you'll see, the story begins two weeks after that particular mission ends. Very, very few copies are going out. You are among the first to be reading this.
Thank you Anthony Horowitz, Orion, IFP, and the good folks at Riot Communications for giving me the opportunity to read Trigger Mortis early. Can't wait!
Trigger Mortis will be released on September 8, 2015 in both the U.S. and UK.
You lucky boy! Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as Charlie Higson!
ReplyDeletebeautiful!
ReplyDeleteIntroduction chapter reminds me of ' Diamonds Are Forever ' ...

Congrats, JC! I suppose you've locked yourself in some safehouse someplace with a carton of Gauloises and a couple of flasks of coffee.
ReplyDeleteSee you when you finish the book.
I actually in a dilemma. This proof is SO nice, I hate to read it. The collector in me wants to keep it pristine. I will be getting the U.S. edition three weeks before publication, so I might actually wait until then. I'm a nut.
DeleteI'm insanely jealous...
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us what the first chapter is called? Or would that be breaking the official secrets act?
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't want to push it. :)
DeleteThat' the problem of being in the position of being one of the privaleged few permitted something like this. The questions of 'ordinary' fans cannot be answered and every review has to be favourable - even if you think the content's as chap as the title. one has to be a cheerleader or one is nothing. That seems to be how this sort of thing works.
ReplyDelete* as crap as the title, obviously
DeleteNot necessarily. I didn't give a Shoot To Kill a rave review, and I also got a proof of that. I feel like being someone who takes time to really read the book and write a thoughtful, honest review gets you this kind of thing.
DeleteDid Shoot To Kill have a special proof, or was it just an early release of the retail edition?
DeleteI wonder did they send one to that "Jim" at Commanderbond?
