Higson says more adult Bond books on the way

Charlie Higson dropped a major piece of Bond literary news during a panel discussion with fellow Bond alums David Arnold and Daniel Kleinman in the newest issue of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

The Young Bond author says that Ian Fleming Publications have an ongoing plan to produce more adult James Bond books. Yes, he said "BOOKS" -- as in plural, as in more BOOKS after next year's one off centenary novel Devil May Care.

So does this mean a new series? A series set after DMC? Or maybe a series set before Casino Royale?

Let the speculation begin. But one bit of speculation I'd like to offer up is the possibility that the author of one of these future adult BOOKS will be one Charlie Higson.

At least I hope so.

  1. Nice. I'd love it if YB5 is really good then Higson can go on and write some modern Bond books to follow on from Benson. If Faulk's would like to keep writing some books then have him write some period pieces set after DMC, but putting them before CR would be just plain stupid. Fleming wrote the beginning of Bond, not Faulks.

  2. I don't think we will see anymore Bond novels set in modern times (at least not in the near future). I think IFP wants to root the literary James Bond firmly within Fleming's 20th Century timeline.
