JAMES BOND audiobook collection on CD

The Ian Fleming James Bond audiobooks are now available on CD from W. F. Howes in the UK. These are the new recordings with each book read by a different well-known celebrity. Each recording comes with a bonus interview with the celebrity narrator.

W. F. Howes is currently offering 30% when purchasing the entire collection. That offer is good through March 31, 2015.

Says Corinne Turner, MD of Ian Fleming Publications Limited: "We are very proud of our 007 audiobook collection, which is the result of several years of hard work by Lucy Fleming and some of Britain’s best acting talent. We are thrilled that the complete CD collection is in the extremely capable hands of W. F. Howes."

STEVE COLE interviewed on James Bond Radio

James Bond Radio, an excellent podcast devoted to all things 007, has an interview today with Young Bond author Steve Cole.

It’s Young Bond time in this week’s episode of James Bond Radio. With the release of Steve Cole’s first Bond book, following on from the first 5 written by Charlie Higson, we thought it was time Young Bond got some attention on the show. Not only do we have a 40 minute interview with the author himself, we also review the book in a spectacular yet spoiler-free fashion.

You can Like James Bond Radio on Facebook and subscribe on iTunes.

Publisher announces plans for an UNAUTHORIZED James Bond anthology

Independent Toronto publisher ChiZine Publications has announced that it will release an unauthorized anthology of James Bond short stories in November called, Licence Expired: The Unauthorized James Bond. The press release comes on the heels of an article on io9 which claims James Bond is now public domain in Canada.

"We want to feature original, transformative stories set in the world of Secret Agent 007," says co-editor David Nickle. "We're hoping our contributors will combine the guilty-pleasure excitement of the vintage Fleming experience with a modern critique of it."

"This is an opportunity to comment on the Bond universe from within it," adds Madeline Ashby. "We're specifically looking for writers and stories that would make Fleming roll in his grave."

So how real is this?

Well, if you check out this interview, you'll see that this is all a prelude to a Kickstarter campaign, so I'm skeptical. (I don't trust Kickstarter, having seen one too many scams.) I'm also skeptical of the claim of Bond being public domain in Canada. I think both Danjaq and IFP might have something to say about that.

When asked if they are worried about being sued, a representative of ChiZine states: "Of course I am. Isn’t everyone? But it’s worth the risk. After all. You only live twice."

I'll believe it when I see it.

Pegasus will released final 3 JOHN GARDNER novels in November

The good folks at Pegasus Books have informed me that they will release the final three John Gardner James Bond reprints in the U.S. in November. The books will be Never Send Flowers, SeaFire, and Cold Fall (or will they use the UK title, COLD?).

Pegasus last released The Man From Barbarossa and Death Is Forever in January of 2014.

This is great news for collectors of the U.S. editions. However, unlike Orion in the UK, the U.S. reprints from Pegasus do not include the novelizations of Licence To Kill and GoldenEye.

Visit our special Gardner Renewed page for links to all the Gardner-Bond reprints in the U.S. and UK.

Thanks to Claiborne Hancock for the info.

In 2015, JAMES BOND blasts off into the 1950s

Welcome to 2015, a year that promises to be an exciting one for fans of the literary James Bond. Not only will we get TWO Bond novels this year -- Steve Cole's second Young Bond adventure and Anthony Horowitz's adult Bond novel codenamed "Project One" -- but we'll also see the first installment of Dynamite's major new graphic novel series chronicling the formative days of Agent 007. While Cole's book will, of course, be set in the 1930s, both Horowitz and Dynamite will give us Bond adventures set in the 1950s. So to set the mood, here's a vintage cover from a 1955 edition of Moonraker by Ian Fleming.
