Link: James Bond: Born in the trenches

Excellent article in the London Times by Ben MacIntyre about the influence of Ian Fleming's father, a World War I hero, on James Bond 007.

  1. Interesting article, but not quite accurate.

According to the excellent "James Bond: The Man and His World" (page 11), it was Ian Fleming's mother who made the four Fleming boys end their prayers with "Make me more like Mokie." Mrs. Val (Ian's mother) was known as "Mie," or M for short.

BTW, thanks for a great blog.
