  1. Ow, my eyes! They're burning!

We always seem to get better book covers in the UK.

  2. YUCCCCCCHHHHH!!!! THE UK cover is elegant and alluring. This is a like a car accident.

  3. It is apparently so obvious because us dumb Americans don't know what Cart Blanche is... Do you pronounce it Kart-ee Blanch-ee?

  4. The UK cover is more artistic, that's for sure. But I trust Simon & Schuster know what sells in the U.S. I think branding is what most matters here. 007 is the brand. 007 by Jeffery Deaver, that's what this says. Maybe that's what you need to do to sell yourself in market this large, this diverse, and this distracted. And I don't think it's because Americans are any more dim or distracted than anyone else (although we might be). It's really about the sheer size and competitiveness of the US market. You don't have much time and space, so you better be clear what you are. At least that's what I think. I'm no expert.

I also this this might look pretty cool "on the flesh." I expect the lettering will be raised, maybe reflective... Hey, I like both covers. I'll take one of each, please. :)

  5. That is terrible. Still I am so excited for this more so than than Bond 23. Maybe because it will be here sooner.

  6. Ugh... Agreed on all counts. I can't tell you how many times I have been excited by a UK cover, only to think "Oh wait... what does the US cover look like?", and sure enough, it's always cringe-worthy, and this one might be the worst yet! I think I'd be down-right embarrassed to be seen reading a book with that cover on it!

  7. Agree with you, although I'll probably get it as an eBook, which will allow me to avoid that awful cover...

Devil May Care's US cover looked better, IMHO.

  8. This is just an awful cover! I have all of the Bond books, and especially the Fleming covers were far more superior than this! Yuck!
